Equestrian Q&A! Answering Your Questions

✨Most Difficult Riding Skill? ❓ When did you start riding? ❓Name a breed of horse in each continent in the world that you’d love to ride next! Thanks to all of the horse lovers that sent in their questions! Join me for a ride and let's talk HORSES! 🐴 Answering Your Questions! When did you start to ride horses? Even though no one in my family was a horse person, I have always been obsessed! I rode a pony at a friends birthday party when I was 3 and apparently declared to the whole world that I loved Casper and wanted to ride by myself. :) When I was 5, I started riding lessons and to this day it is still hard to get me off of a horse! Any tips for traveling in Iceland or going on an Icelandic Horse Trek? For your first trip I would highly suggest taking the time to rent a car and drive the ring road. It is an amazing way to see the country and there are so many neat places to stop and explore. For riding, there are so many different types of rides, make sure you pick one that really resonates with you. For example, you can chose from going on a beach ride, seeing waterfalls, riding in the highlands, or herding sheep in the Autumn. When are you coming to New Zealand to ride a Kaimanawa? Hopefully Soon! I've always wanted to go to New Zealand, cannot wait to film the Kaimanawa! Have you ever been bucked off? I've ridden 60 breeds for the Quest at this time, and I’m happy to report that I have been bucked off a total of zero times, SO FAR. Hopefully we can keep that up for at least a little while longer! When you were a kid, what equestrian event/sport did you dream of doing? That is a super fun question! I was in love with so many different was younger was Three Day Eventing. I just loved the excitement and the challenge of things. I think the big one when I all the different pieces that go together with show jumping and dressage and cross-country riding. I actually started down the path of becoming a three-day eventer. Unfortunately we got to my first show, which actually went really well, it was a total blast, but we came home, put the horses out to pasture and Rosie the draft cross mare that I was riding unfortunately had an accident with the fence. The horses saw her and were really excited that she was home, and she ran into the fence and injured her leg, and she was out for over a year after that. So, long story short, that ended up kind of guiding me more towards the direction of dressage, which is another big passion of mine. What was the most difficult skill for you to learn for riding? I think for me, the most challenging thing with for riding specifically is learning the timing and the feel. How to know whether you're asking too much of a horse or whether you're not asking enough of them, and that feel is something that it's so so magical when you get it, but it takes a really long time to to learn, and on each horse its a little bit different. That's one of the things I love about riding all of these breeds for the Quest. I get to ride different horses each time and it's such a unique experience that I feel like i'm constantly learning as a rider and i'm constantly learning as a horse person. Name a breed of horse in each continent in the world that you’d love to ride next! North America: Cheval Canadian South America: Mangalara Marchhador Europe: Friesian Africa: South African Boerperd Oceana: Kaimanawa Asia: Yakutian Antarctica: ??? When is your next adventure coming? I'm working on finishing up the U.S. breeds, so watch for the Chincoteague Pony, the Stonewall Sport Horse and the Marsh Tacky. Also if you have any suggestions or have any breeds that you want to see, I love to hear your ideas. I've been getting some really fun ones sent in, so I can't wait to share more of those with all of you!... [Read more]
